Yes, we'll need to do a quick patch test at least 48 hours before your treatment, even if you've had it done elsewhere before. This test only takes about 10 minutes, and sometimes we can do it during your consultation. Depending on the area we're treating, we suggest that you stop using retinol for 5 days before the patch test and avoid sun exposure for at least 4 weeks prior to the test.

Some people say it feels like a small snap from a rubber band on your skin. It's not really painful, and you get used to it pretty quickly. After the treatment, we cool your skin with air to reduce any redness and swelling. Most of the time, you won't need any numbing cream or anesthesia.

After the laser treatment, you might notice your skin is a bit red, slightly swollen, and feels sensitive, kind of like a mild sunburn. This usually lasts for 1-3 days. The hair that was treated will gradually start to fall out. These effects are usually not too bothersome, and most people can go about their regular daily activities.

To prepare for your appointment, please shave the area we'll be treating 24 hours before coming in. Depending on the treatment area, it's a good idea to stop using products like retinol, tretinoin, glycolic acid, or certain antibiotics (like tetracycline) for 5-7 days before the treatment because they can make your skin more sensitive to light. Also, try not to tan at least 4 weeks before your appointment and for about 6 weeks after the treatment.
